City Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy on Friday met Chief Minister K Rosaiah and informed him over the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ward committee polls.

The meeting assumed significance as Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha declared a war against the Mayor for her husband B Chandra Reddy's involvement in the GHMC electoral process. Jayasudha threatened to submit her resignation on Thursday.

According to sources, Kartika Reddy informed the Chief Minister of the developments after Jayasudha questioned the involvement of her husband in the poll process.

Later, Kartika Reddy told mediamen that the Chief Minister had reassured her that the matter would be taken to the High Command.

Jayasudha had suggested five names for nomination as ward committee members for a particular division. Only one of the five was nominated to the committee. Following the omission, Jayasudha went to GHMC office and accuses Chandra Reddy of the mess.

However, Mayor Karthika Reddy said the names suggested by the MLA were not included as they worked against the party in GHMC elections by supporting the BJP candidates.

Reddy said her husband has no role to play in the selection of ward panels and hoped the High Command will look into the issue and take a suitable decision at an appropriate time.

The Mayor also dismissed Jayasudha's outburst as a “minor issue and that such controversies are common”.
