Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the state Government's bid to  privatise medical and engineering education will adversely affect the students’ career.

Addressing the student leaders, who came from different districts to raise the pending scholarships issue, Naidu said the Chief Minister and his ministers were signing files without going through them properly. There is a concerted effort on the part of the government to privatise engineering and medical education in the state, he alleged.

Although the state government claimed that it introduced a budget of Rs 1,13,000 crore for education, it actually allocated less than Rs 5,000 crore, he pointed out.

The government which allocated Rs 150 crore for Social Welfare Department run hostels, released Rs 25 crore only, Naidu told newsmen at NTR Trust Bhavan here.

Naidu came down heavily on the government for the lathicharge on the agitating students for seeking release of pending scholarships and urged the government to release the pending scholarships.
