Vacant Irrigation Department posts to be filled up soon: Ponnala

Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah assured the House on Thursday that steps had been taken to fill a number of vacant posts in the engineering and technical divisions of the Irrigation Department.

The Minister’s assurance came as part of a reply to a question raised by Congress member, G Thippe Swamy, during Question Hour in the Legislative Council.

Lakshmaiah said two posts of Chief Engineers, 23 Superintending Engineers, 103 Executive Engineers, 40 Deputy Executive Engineers, 2517 Assistant Executive and Assistant Engineers and 226 Technical Officers were lying vacant and action was being taken to fill up the vacancies by direct recruitment through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission.
