Hyderabad, Aug 11:

``It was the House that  gave  the  Speaker  the  powers to conduct the assembly  in a  fairway  giving  equal opportunities to the  members to air their  views. But it is unfortunate that the Speaker is  using the powers to suppress the voices of Opposition in the assembly, ‘’ said  opposition party leader N Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday.

Interacting  with the media at the Telugu Desam  Legislators Party office he said  that the speaker should cooperate in such a way that the members of the house will get  the  right time to  voice their  opinions.

Recalling the days  when he was the chief minister he said  that he had not laid any restrictions on the  media. The assembly proceedings were shown live.

The questions we ask in the  assembly and the replies given by the ruling party should be shown live. How can the public know about the happenings in the assembly, he questioned.  Even if  we show resentment over a   particular discussion the TV cameras  do not  focus on us. The TV cameras always show the faces of either the  speaker or YS Rajasekhar Reddy, he expressed  his disgust.

Even in the Parliament the  proceedings are shown live why does the government  want to hid the proceedings in the assembly by laying  restrictions on the media, the TDP  leader quipped.
