JAC convener must behave 'responsibly': Venkat Reddy

Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Wednesday seemed to have lost his cool when newsmen sought his opinion on the JAC role in Telangana tangle. He said, ''Telangana Joint Action Committee convener Prof Kodandaram needs to behave in a more responsible way.''

He said Kondandaram was issuing provocative remarks and emotive statements on Telangana issue even after the Centre appointed Srikrishna Commission for the T-purpose.

“Such statements would cause law and order problems in the state,” he said.

The Minister said Prof Kodandaram had alleged that he was responsible for ordering the lathicharge on Osmania University students.

“How can I order lathicharge on the Osmania University students? I am in no way connected to the law and order situation in the state. It is the portfolio of the Home Minister. My portfolio is Information Technology,” he said.

Denying the charge, the Minister said the Home Minister would take decision connected to law and order in the state and asked Kodandaram to behave in a responsible manner and try to restore peace in the state.

He suggested that he is ready to quit his post if the Telangana statehood did not materialize on the recommendations of Srikrishna Commission.

Kodandaram was trying to project all Telangana Congress leaders guilty before the Telangana people, the Minister pointed out.
