Hyderabad, Feb 9:  The Telugu Desam Minorities Cell members on Tuesday tried to lay siege to the State Legislative Assembly  as a mark of protest against the Government failure to ensure reservations to the economically backward minorities.Demanding that the State Government introduce a Constitutional amendment to strengthen the provisions of reservations for the minorities, the Tdp Minorities Cell members took out a rally when the police intervened and stopped the activists at Basheerbagh.

Tension prevailed in the area after the police forces tried to arrest the activists and whisk them away into waiting vans.The Tdp minorities Cell on Monday decided to lay siege to the house after the High Court scrapped the State government Act which made provision for  4 per cent reservations to economically backward minorities as unsustainable.Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker  Kiran Kumar Reddy warned all concerned of severe action against those who resort to stage dharnas or protests on the Assembly precincts.
