Warangal, Jan 30:Telangana activists in Warangal district are agitated over the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday on the formation of a committee to look into the issue of Telangana state.Addressing newsmen, Kakatiya University Joint Action Committee convener Sriram Shyam said on Saturday that they were least bothered about the proposed committee suggested by the Union Government. The students JAC, on the other hand, have finalised programmes to intensify the agitation.

Relay hunger fasts were launched in front of the Courts, University Arts College, near Kaloji Narayana Rao statue, Hanmakonda Chourastha, Kakatiya University campus on Saturday. Dharnas and 'dhum-dhams' were held across the district.“We are least bothered whether the government announces any committee or not. What we want is formation of Telangana state and we will not rest till it is achieved,” said Murali Manohar, a retired professor, who is taking active part in the agitation.

The apparent motive of the Congress in announcing a committee seemed to delay the issue further, he said. The committee should only consider the ways and means of carving out a separate state within a given time-frame, he stated. He said it would be of no use to appoint a committee, but the Government should also concede the demands being made by the leaders of Andhra region. The Committee will hear the arguments of both the parties which may create more problems for the Telangana statehood, he said.
