Khammam, Jan. 28: Communist Party of India state secretary K.Narayana on Thursday demanded that Bayyaram iron ore mines should be handed over to the Government company.A Cpi team comprising K. Narayana, Central committee member and MLC Puvvada Nageswar Rao, Legislators Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao and Ms B Chandravathi, which visited the iron ore mines in Bayer forest told reporters that the party would take up an agitation if the government does not stop the works at the mines.

“The mines contractors have been unearthing ore from the area not allocated to them for years,” Narayana said. Despite complaints about the irregularities, no action had been taken by the government. The mining mafia is dictating the terms to the political parties which will devastate the democratic system, Narayana said. The party would launch an agitation to cancel the lease agreement, he warned the government.

Interestingly, the Cpi team was greeted by worried workers who urged the team not to do anything that would halt the mining work. If the works are cancelled by the government, many workers would lose their llives, they suggested. The police rushed to the spot and dispersed the workers. Later, Narayana along with the team members and party activists staged rasta-roko at Bayyaram against the irregularities in the iron ore mines.
