With Centre denying SCS to AP, YSRCP ups the ante
Major Opposition party in Ap Assembly, YSR Congress has strongly condemned the Centre for denying the special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh saying that the ruling NDA defied the assurance given by the previous government on the floor of the Parliament to accord refusal to accord special status to the state.
Protests broke out across the state with YSRCP activists blocking roads to protest the Centre’s decision. The opposition parties have called for a state wide bandh on Saturday to protest the Centre’s decision.
In Vijayawada, YSRCP leaders Pardhasarathi, V Radha, CPI secretary Ramakrishna , CPM secretary P Madhu were among the prominent leaders of various political parties who participated in the protest programme. The leaders urged people of the state to participate voluntarily in the AP bandh on Saturday to protest the Centre’s decision of denying SCS to AP, which they termed a gross injustice to the state.
