Hyderabad, Jan 11: With the trouble-torn Andhra Pradesh slowly limping back to normalcy, the Rosaiah Government has started taking some welfare measures and also initiating certain development activities.The State did not witness a single developmental work in the past 45 days. During the whole period, all the three regions -- Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema -- were rattled with war-like atmosphere with a series of struggles pushing the welfare programmes to a back seat.However, the week beginning January 11, Monday, certainly saw a deviation from this.

The Ministry of Agriculture and certain local legislators belonging to the ruling Congress, got into serious business on Monday.The Minister for Agriculture, Mr N Raghuveera Reddy, said the ex gratia payment due to the farmers for crop loss in 2008 will be credited to their respective bank accounts from Tuesday. The State Government has released Rs 800 on Monday for the purpose.Besides, the Minister also said that a thorough probe will be conducted into the allegations of misuse of funds in the scheme meant to supply subsidy seeds to the farmers.

“A committee of officials will investigate thoroughly all the charges of misappropriation of funds in the scheme,” he told media persons here.This apart, the Congress MLA from Lal Bahadur Nagar (LB Nagar) on the outskirts of Hyderabad city, Mr Sudhir Reddy, announced that the fruit market near Kothapet will be shifted to Bagh Amberpet area, to the border of the Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA) limits.
