93 Telangana MLAs to resign

Hyderabad,Dec 24: Ninety-three MLAs from five political parties, including Congress, Telugu Desam Party and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday decided to resign in protest against the Centre’s statement, which seemingly puts the separate Telangana state issue on the backburner.

Among the 93 MLAs who have decided to put in their papers, 39 are from the main Opposition TDP, 40 from the ruling Congress, 10 TRS, two Praja Rajyam Party and two from the Bharatiya Janata Party and others.The resignations would be submitted to Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy. Meanwhile,reports of violent protests are coming in from all parts of Telangana region.A 48-hour bandh,called by the TRS and supported by TDP has paralysed normal life in the region.
