When asked whether he would test his party’s political fortunes by contesting the coming elections to GHMC, Pawan Kalyan said he had given a thought to it.

It might be recalled here that Pawan Kalyan was actively associated with Praja Rajyam Party founded by is elder brother and actor Chiranjeevi. Though the party had entered the electoral battle in 2009, it could not make a big mark except for winning about 18 seats. Pawan Kalyan kept himself away from contesting as a nominee of his brother’s Praja Rajyam Party.

When Chiranjeevi merged his party with the Congress and for which he was rewarded a ministerial berth in the central cabinet of the UPA Government, Pawan  Kalyan was not very happy over the developments, especially the merger of Praja Rajyam with Congress. He then decided to float his own political party and thus Jana Sena Party was launched before the 2014 elections.

However Pawan Kalyan in order to avid a split in the votes kept himself and his away from contesting the elections. Instead he and his party extended full support to the BJP-TDP combine the elections and which in way helped the rout of the congress and also prevented the surge of YSRCP in the costal belt.
