The Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday intensified the efforts to bring back the Telugus stranded in trouble-hit Iraq.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma to stay in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Baghdad to ensure safe return of Telugus stranded in Iraqi capital and other cities of war-hit country. He asked the Chief Secretary to also arrange for safe return of those who went on invalid documents.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Affairs Palle Raghunath Reddy told media persons that he spoke to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday seeking her help in bringing back the Telugus from Iraq. He said Chief Minster Nara Chandrababu Naidu has offered to bear the financial burden for the safe return of Telugus. He said that the Andhra Pradesh Government was in touch with the MEA and also with Iraqi officials on the issue.
