The proceedings of both the House of Parliament on the first day of the extended winter session on Wednesday was hit over the Centre's proposed move to bifurcation Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana State.

The Seemandhra MPs stalled both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha while opposing the tabling of Telangana Bill. After repeated brief adjournments, both the Houses were adjourned for the day. As soon as the both the Houses met on Wednesday, the members from both Telangana and Seemandhra regions trooped into the well raising slogans booth in favour and against the formation of Telangana. The MPs were carrying placards with their demands.

The issues of death of Arunachal Pradesh student Nido Tanium in Delhi, August Westland chopper deal and 1984 anti-Sikh riots were among the other issues that affected the functioning of the Parliament.

The protesting MPs did not respond to the repeated request of Speaker Meira Kumar to allow the proceedings of Lok Sabha. Following pandemonium, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were twice adjourned for brief periods and then adjourned for the day.
