Talking to reporters on Friday evening, Keshav Rao said that it was wrong to question the sincerity of leaders in Congress or TDP towards the Telangana issue. However, he said the Telangana leaders were facing problem from their party leadership in pursuing the goal of Telangana. Therefore, he said he had decided to end his 50-year-old relationship with the Congress party to achieve Telangana. He also announced that he would not aspire for any post and would focus all his energies on formation of Telangana.
Keshav Rao said that he had deceived the people of Telangana and himself by assuming that the Congress party would form Telangana. By not responding to the deadline set by him and three Congress MPs, the Congress party gave an impression that it was anti-Telangana and also anti-Dalit.
The former PCC chief apologised to the leaders who tried in vain to persuade him not to leave the party. He said he was forced to quit the party as the Congress High Command failed to react to the deadline set by him.
Keshav Rao also slammed PCC President, Seemandhra lobby and Andhra media for sabotaging the Telangana cause in a systematic manner. He stressed the need for unity among Telangana leaders to achieve statehood for the region. He said that he would join the TRS on June 2 during a public meeting at Nizam College Grounds.
