Hyderabad,Nov 7: The selection of candidates for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections was done in a very transparent manner, claimed Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas.Talking to media persons at his residence on Saturday, the PCC chief said that the tickets to aspirants are given on the recommendations of local leaders and MLAs.The MLAs and local leaders are also satisfied with the allotment of tickets for the GHMC elections, the PCC chief said. However,he made it clear that he was not‘‘satisfied 100 per cent’’ with the choice of candidates for the GHMC elections.

On the accusations made by some Congress leaders that some leaders including Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy,PCC chief D Srinivas and Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagendar were involved in underhand monetary transactions for tickets allocations, he said some disgruntled elements would always find a ploy to politicise the issue before the elections. He admitted that injustice was done to some aspirants in the allotment of tickets. But the party would do justice to such candidates by accommodating them suitably in some other posts.

He directed the rebels to drop off the fray or face disciplinary consequences. He hoped the Congress Party would secure a clear mandate in the GHMC polls. The people would vote for Congress on the basis of its performance and works taken up by late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,he added. His main aim is to get international status for Greater Hyderabad on the lines of Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai and Delhi,he said.
