Union Minister D Purandeswari today visited Karamchedu in Prakasam district.

Farmers pleaded with her to provide MSP to tobacco and groundnut.  They also urged her to help in easing the procedures for exporting groundnut. There is no restriction on the farmers’ choice of crop, she said.

Karamchedu happens to be her husband Daggubati Venkateswara Rao’s native village. He lost her mother recently.

That apart,, there is lot of pressure on the High Command to shift Purandeswari from Visakhapatnam to some other Lok Sabha seat in Prakasam or Guntur districts.  T Subbarami Reddy is the strong contender for the Visakhaptnam seat. He fought a losing battle for Nellore Lok Sabha by-election and lost badly at the hands of YSRCP candidate M Rajamohan Reddy.

Recently, there was a protocol issue and Purandeswari had to cancel her visit to Visakhapatnam as Chief Minister’s programme was also fixed on the same day.

Indications were clear, when the local MLA went to press describing Purandeswari as arrogant. Subbarami Reddy followed it up by saying that he is the next Congress candidate from Visakhapatnam.

Purandeswari, did not comment on any of the issue so far.
