Hyderabad,Oct 31: Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has laid down her life for the cause of national integration, stated Chief Minister K Rosaiah.Paying rich tributes to Indira Gandhi on her 25th death anniversary which was observed as Anti-Terrorism Day, by garlanding to her statue at Necklace Road in the city, the Chief Minister said that everybody should strive for the fulfillment of the late leader’s ideals.He said that nationalisation of banks, ‘garabi hatao’ and other programmes were initiated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for the welfare of the poor.Indira Gandhi had worked tirelessly to bridge the many divides in our society and to meet the aspirations of all sections of our nation, he said.

Paying floral tributes to the great leader Indira Gandhi at a function organized under Congress Committee on ‘Indira Gandhi and National Integration,’Pradesh Congress Committee President D Srinivas said that Indira Gandhi gave new strength and vitality to the democratic parliamentary institutions.By translating the people's aspirations into epoch making legislation,policy innovations and programmes for the uplift o the poor, she made the legislatures watchful guardians of the rights and needs of the people. She ensured that India's democracy would never be the plaything of vested interests, he added.Tributes were also paid during the day to the `Iron Man of India', Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 129th birth anniversary.
