Several TDP leaders and activists including senior leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu were arrested by the police when they staged a protest at Gun Park opposite Legislative Assembly here on Sunday.

After paying tributes to the martyrs of Telangana at Martyrs Memorial, Narsimhulu launched his hunger strike in protest against the "Suryapet Samarabheri" being held by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. However, minutes after he began his hunger strike, Narasimhulu and other TDP activists were arrested by the police. Later, they were shifted to the Nampally police station.

Speaking after launching the hunger strike, Narasimhulu alleged that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was cheating the people of Telangana by mortgaging the statehood agitation with the Centre. Stating that KCR did not pressurise the Centre for convening an all party meeting over the statehood issue, he asked KCR as to why he did not raise the Telangana issue in the on-going winter session of the Parliament.

Motkupalli alleged that KCR entered into a secret agreement with the Congress party to ensure that his son and Sircilla MLA K Tarakarama Rao becomes the next Chief Minister. He accused KCR of exploiting the sentiments of Telangana people for his own political gains.
