Not afraid of losing power: CM

In an apparent reaction to the threat posed to his government due to the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen's decision of withdrawing support, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he was not afraid of losing power. "Money or power might come and go, but one need not be afraid of anyone, if the decision taken is right," he said while addressing the children at Ravindra Bharathi on the occasion of Children's Day to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Without naming the MIM or any other leader or even giving reference to the recent developments, the Chief Minister tried to justify his actions in an indirect way. He said that problems were bound to occur when some firm decisions were taken. However, one has to deal with those problems with courage. Exhorting the children to learn from the life of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he said that victory comes to those who work hard consistently.

The Chief Minister announced that his government would take measures to promote Telugu, Urdu and English languages and advised the children to learn all three languages for a better career.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also presented the Balasurya and Balarathna awards given by the Jawahar Bala Bhavan. He also presented awards to the students of residential schools for better performance.

Ministers Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Dr J Geetha Reddy, Danam Nagender, Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav were among several dignitaries and officials who participated in the programme.

Earlier, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy paid rich tributes to Pandit Nehru after garlanding his status at Abids. Addressing the gathering he described the former Prime Minister as a great mentor.
