The Telugu Desam Party on Monday suspended Gudivada MLA Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao alias Nani from the party for meeting YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma in the morning hours.

In a statement issued to media, the TDP spokesperson said that Nani has been suspended from the party with immediate effect as a disciplinary action for indulging in anti-party activities.

Earlier, Nani went to YSR Congress party office and had a meeting with its honorary president Vijayamma and reportedly discussed his joining into the party. Later, he met YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy at Chanchalguda Jail and discussed about taking membership of YSR Congress on the same day.  Former MLA Radhakrishna, follower of YSR congress, accompanied Nani to Chanchalguda Jail.

Jagan reportedly asked Nani to resign from the MLA's post before joining his party. He assured that he would ensure his victory in the by-elections and also in 2014 elections.

Nani, who was elected to Assembly from Gudivada Constituency in 2004 and 2009, was a close follower of film star Jr NTR and strong loyalist of Nandamuri Harikrishna. Dissatisfied with affairs in the TDP and in Krishna district, Nani has been staying away from the party activities and moving closely with YSR Congress.
