Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Friday said that the electorate voted in favour of YSR Congress party in an emotionally disturbed State.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan over the by-election results, the PCC chief said that the voters supported YSR Congress following an emotional appeal made by YSR Congress honorary president Vijayamma after the arrest of Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI in connection with assets case. Stating that victory and defeat were common in a democratic process, he said that the people would realize their mistake for choosing YSR Congress party soon.
Botsa said that the party would convene a meeting to identify the reasons for party's defeat in the by-elections. He said that by-election results have stressed the importance of strengthening the Congress party at all levels including village, mandal and district. He said that hike in petrol prices and power tariff might have had a negative effect on the Congress in the by-elections.
The PCC chief thanked the voters for electing Congress candidates in Ramachandrapuram and Narsapuram Assembly constituencies.
