Outgoing Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao on Thursday demanded that Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy own moral responsibility for the debacle of party in the by-elections held for seven Assembly constituencies and resign from the Chief Minister’s post immediately.

Stating that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has always invited senior party leaders’ suggestions while taking important decision on any issue, he accused Kiran Kumar Reddy of insulting the Telangana sentiment in the by-elections and going ahead with development mantra in the region.

If the Chief Minister did not change his style of functioning and send correct reports over the situation in Telangana, he said that the party would lose to YSR Congress party in the ensuing 17 Assembly segments. “The development of State, particularly backward regions is the basic responsibility of any government. The Telangana sentiment is related to Atma Gauravam of Telangana people,” he stated.

Keshava Rao said that the outcome of by-election results proved that the Telangana sentiment was strong in the region and the development mantra of the Chief Minister did not please the people. At least now the Congress High Command should open its eyes and take a favourable decision on Telangana statehood issue respecting the people’s aspirations, he demanded. Else, he said that the Congress party would be completely wiped out from the region.
