TRS accuses Speaker of misusing position

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has accused Speaker Nadendla Manohar of bringing disrespect to the position that he holds.

Talking to reporters at media point, TRS MLA T Harish Rao alleged that the Speaker was misusing his office to benefit the ruling Congress party. He asked as to why the Speaker has not taken a decision on the rebel MLAs of the Congress party. Further, he said that the Speaker was deliberately not formalising the merger of Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress while giving the former as separate entity status in the House.

Harish Rao alleged that the Speaker was acting under pressure from the ruling party. He said all the Rules and Regulations of the House were being violated to favour the Congress.

TRS floor leader Etala Rajender demanded that the House adopts a resolution for the formation of Telangana region. He also criticised Telugu Desam Telangana Forum MLAs stating that they would not have dared to speak about separate Telangana, if TRS would not have been there.

Etala said that the TDP should now stop leveling allegations against the TRS of having benefitted from the Polavaram tenders. "The Polavaram tenders have been cancelled and therefore, all allegations too should be dropped," he demanded.

He asked the TDP MLAs to raise Telangana issue in the House and support the TRS, CPI and BJP in getting a resolution introduced in the House on separate Telangana.

MLAs K Taraka Rama Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and other MLAs were also present.
