Cong is not targeting Jagan's party: Govt Whip

Government Whip in the Legislative Council Y Shivaram Reddy on Wednesday denied the allegations leveled by YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that the State Government was targetting his party workers.

Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Shivaram Reddy said that the on-going CBI enquiry into alleged illegal assets of Jagan Mohan Reddy was initiated following the directions of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The State Government has no control or influence over the judiciary or the CBI. Therefore, it was wrong on the part of Jagan Mohan Reddy to blame the Congress Government for the probe.

He also denied the allegation that the Congress and TDP had a secret pact to target Jagan's party and his workers. Instead of making baseless allegations, Jagan should focus on proving his innocence in a court of law, he advised.

Shivaram Reddy also criticised TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for leveling charges of corruption against the Congress government. He said several scams including Janmabhoomi, fake currency, stamp paper and Yeluru scams took place during the TDP's rule and its leaders and workers earned money through illegal means. Therefore, Naidu should look into his own past before leveling such allegations against the Congress Government.

The Government Whip also asked as to why Chandrababu Naidu was trying to seek refuge in stay orders. Instead, he should face the investigations to prove his innocence.
