Telugu Desam Party deputy floor leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu on Saturday stated that the Congress party was afraid of taking disciplinary action against the rebel MLAs who defied the party whip and voted in favour of the No Confidence Motion introduced by the Telugu Desam Party against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, Muddukrishnama Naidu said though Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar wants to initiate action under the Anti Defection Law, he was forced to stop his action due to pressure mounted on him by the Congress leaders. He alleged that the Congress leaders were using Speaker as a 'puppet’ in their hands.

Muddukrishnama Naidu said that the Congress party knows well that it would not win in those constituencies, if the Speaker disqualifies the rebels under the Anti Defection Law.  He said that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy fears that his government would collapse if the Speaker initiates action against the rebel MLAs.

The TDP leader demanded that Speaker Nadendla Manohar use his powers and disqualify the rebel MLAs as per the constitution.
