YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday received a major jolt with one of its prominent leader from Kurnool district joining the Telugu Desam Party.

Condemning Jagan's style of functioning, senior politician Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy raised a banner of revolt and joined the TDP at NTR Trust Bhavan in the presence of its president N Chandrababu Naidu. Admitting Chakrapani Reddy in the party, Naidu reportedly assured him that he would be given ticket from Srisailum Assembly constituency in the next elections.

Talking to media persons, Chakrapani Reddy said that he quit YSR Congress party as he was not happy with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s style of functioning. “There is no freedom in the YSR Congress," he stated.

Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy is the brother of Shilpa Mohan Reddy, a former minister and Congress leader from Kurnool district.

Meanwhile, TDP leader from Kurnool district Baireddy Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that the Congress and YSR Congress party have come to a secret understanding to politically eliminate TDP in the state. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy would merge his party in Congress soon on the lines of Praja Rajyam party chief K Chiranjeevi.
