Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday took serious objection over Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy attributing power shortage in the State to employees' general strike.

Talking to media persons, Kodandaram alleged that the Chief Minister was making false statements on power situation in the state and linking the power shortage unnecessarily to the general strike. He said that the Chief Minister was doing so cover up his inefficiency and incapability in handling the situation. Kodandaram asked the Chief Minister to disclose how much power was purchased this year and last year to meet the consumers' needs. Though many private firms are generating power in the state, instead of buying power from them, the government has been encouraging them to sell them in other states, he stated. He asked why the government did not take alternative measures after the strike notice was served.

The JAC chairman asked the farmers in the State to grill the elected representatives if the government fails to redress their power problem.
