Probably for the first time in the city since the general strike began, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had a direct confrontation with the Telangana activists.

The Chief Minister and other Congress leaders were shocked when a group of women raised 'Jai Telangana' slogans while Kiran Kumar Reddy was addressing a gathering of women workers of Hyderabad City Congress. The women questioned the Chief Minister on what they would do with the one rupee kilo rice, when the prices of all other essential food items including the vegetables are touching the sky. They accused the government of trying to cheat the common people by decreasing the prices of rice by one rupee and increasing the other rates exorbitantly.

Some women also raised slogans demanding that they want a Chief Minister from the Telangana region. However, the pro-Telangana activists were strategically convinced to stay calm and the situation was brought under control without disturbing the meeting.
