Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari on Wednesday stated that all Congress leaders have to stand by to decision on Telangana state taken up by High Command.

Participating as chief guest at the South India Journalist Students’ conference at Padmavathi Mahila University, the Union Minister appealed to employees participating in the general strike to withdraw their agitation for statehood as it is causing lot of inconvenience to people and affecting their livelihood. She said that whatever decision the Centre takes on creation of Telangana state, all Congress leaders were ready to accept it.

Purandreshwari called upon the women student journalists to actively join in the profession and prove that women are better than their male counterparts. She said that the women journalists take the journalism profession as challenge and prove their calibre. She said the journalism has power to eradicate ills in the society and appealed to journalists to act in a responsible and constructive manner by creating awareness among people.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLA K Chiranjeevi also participated in the programme.
