The police on Tuesday arrested Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha and other activists when they tried to picket the State Legislative Assembly along with government lecturers.

After expressing solidarity with the members of Telangana Lecturers Sangham, who are sitting on a dharna at Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park, Kavita along with government lecturers formed a human chain in front of the Assembly blocking the entire traffic. Later, raising Jai Telangana slogans, Kavita tried to barge into the assembly premises.

However, the police personnel deputed at the Assembly foiled their plans and took them into custody. Kavita and the agitating lecturers had a heated argument with police officials and raised slogans against them. All the arrested activists were later shifted to a nearby police station.

Kavita also condemned police high handedness on students of Osmania University and Nizam college students on Monday. She alleged that the State Government was trying to use force to suppress the Telangana agitation. She warned them of serious consequences if they do not change their attitude towards the Telangana activists.
