The state government will soon launch a scheme, ‘Yuva Kiranalu’ to eradicate unemployment among skilled youth by imparting training to them in their chosen field and then provide suitable employment.

Labour Minister Danam Nagender told media persons at the Secretariat that the scheme will harness the skilled youth force, around 15 lakh, and impart training to them in their chosen field and then absorb the into the workforce.

Mr Nagender had earlier participated in a review meeting on skill development, chaired by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and attended by other officers concerned.

The Yuva Kiranalu, (Youth Rays), understood to have been christened after the Chief Minister, will utilise the services of the public representatives in all constituencies in ensuring the implementation of the scheme.

Vocational training centres would be set up to offer training connected to agriculture, sericulture, Information Technology and Communication to name a few Departments, Mr Nagender said.

The Minister maintained that in whatever department or line the youth chose, training would be imparted after a good interaction with them.  “In about two and a half years the programme would be completed,” Mr Nagender stated.

“We are not able to provide them suitable jobs directly,” he said. “This way, collective effort by the administration would be fruitful to motivate the skilled youth,” the Minister added.

This programme has been designed by the Labour Department.

In addition to the existing 128 vocational centres, the Minister said that more such centres would be opened in the constituencies to train the unemployed youth. This is also an effort to prevent them from going to other states in search of greener pastures.
