“How will the Congress, which could not even withstand the gentle breeze of the ‘Ceiling Fan’ (YSR Congress Party symbol), be able to face the tornado of people’s wrath when for failing to properly implement the welfare schemes launched by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara?” questioned YSR Congress Party leader HA Rahman on Friday.

In his first reaction to the huge lead taken by his party president and candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Rahman said that the result are indicative of the people’s distrust of the ruling party.

“As many as 18 Ministers, the Chief Minister and the party’s newly ‘acquired star campaigner’ K Chiranjeevi were not able to convince the people that the Congress was sincere about implementing Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s welfare schemes. As if the leaders were not enough, the government employed the official machinery, including police to stifle the people’s voice,” Mr Rahman continued.

He added, “Obviously, it is now clear that the people have shown who the real political heir of Dr YSR is. The Congress should now apologise to the people for trying to hijack his name and deprive his son of his inheritance.”

Mr Rahman proceeded to offer special thanksgiving prayers after the regular Friday prayers at King Kothi. He then addressed about 2000 supporters of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr Rahman told the gathering that the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government should be bundled off and dismissed, not only because it does not have the trust of the people, but also because it has failed to provide proper administration.

“Not only is the government unable to launch new schemes for the welfare of the people, it has also failed to implement the ones launched by Dr YSR,” Mr Rahman said.

He added that the government is living on borrowed time, and the people themselves will rise up in revolt. “It is just a matter of time,” he said.
