Independents campaigning for Jagan: Cong complains

Congress leaders on Thursday have complained to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal that four independent candidates have been campaigning on behalf of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

APCC vice president Madasu Gangadhar, MLC Rudraraju Padmaraju and general secretary Gidugu Rudraraju met Mr Bhanwar Lal at his chambers in the Secretariat on Thursday and claimed that independent candidates Kotamreddy Suresh Babu with the torch as his symbol, Jajula Bhaskar with a frock as his symbol, Duggireddy Srinivasa Reddy represented by the frying pan symbol  and Sivashankar Reddy Devireddy who has been allotted the bat symbol have been campaigning for Mr Jaganmohan Reddy in Kadapa district.

The Congress team urged the CEO to cancel the privileges given to them.

They alleged that the said independents were misusing their facilities and campaigning for the ‘ceiling fan’ (symbol of the YSR Congress Party candidates) in both the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.

The Congress team later spoke to media persons and briefed them about their meeting with the CEO.
