Both former chief minister Konijeti Rosaiah and his close aide and Minister for Minor Irrigation T G Venkatesh have been camping in the Kadapa district to garner Vysyas’ support in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency for Congress candidate and Health Minister DL Ravindra Reddy.
Community development, sentiment of the community and the past services rendered to the Vysyas besides the development aspect formed part of their concentration of the campaign in the Kadapa constituency.
According to Minister TG Venkatesh’s aide and Arya Yuva Sena state president Sanjay Vidiyala, there are over one lakh Vysya voters in the Kadapa district and the Minister had about 10,000 vysya youth at his disposal who were regrouped and activated to conduct door to door campaign particularly in the areas dominated by the community.
Mr Vidiyala revealed that this is the second term for Mr Venkatesh as Legislator. Earlier, he was elected on TDP ticket in 1999. He joined the Rosaiah cabinet considering his services for the Vysyas.
The Minister was also associated with charitable trusts, blood donation camps, and distribution of grains in the slums.
The Minister earlier distributed cheques to the staff attached to his office here and those based at his factory in Kurnool for giving up ‘smoking’.
The Rosaiah-Venkatesh duo have toured the Vysya belt Badvel, Proddatur, Jammalamadugu, Kadapa, Pulivendula and Mydukuru constituencies which were said to be dominated by the Vysya business community.
