Ms Anuradha stated that the prime accused had been admitted before the police that he had committed the crime in the cellar of Commercial Tax Office on Sunday.

The police officer also stated that the police also recovered the Tata Indica car which was used by Venkaiah to take the girl to Commercial Tax Office from the Baptist Church.

Ms Anuradha further denied reports which appeared in a section of the media that the girl was gang-raped. “We are waiting for the doctors to allow us to question the girl. She is yet to recover from the trauma and the doctors have advised us to wait before she can be questioned,” the police official said.

The Additional Commissioner also confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to reports, the girl was romantically involved with Venkaiah since the past one year and that was the reason she had gone with him after he called her at about 10:30 on Sunday morning.
