In a statement issued to media, the Chief Minister made it clear that he was rejecting YSV’s resignation as the Minister for Agriculture.

Earlier, YSV had visited the Camp Office and tendered his resignation as his term as an MLC had expired.

With his resignation being rejected and his term expiring, YSV becomes the only Minister in the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet who is not a Member of either Houses of the state Legislature.

Earlier, YSV had informed media persons at Chief Minister’s Camp Office about his decision to submit his resignation.

When pointed out by the media persons that the Constitution allows a Minister to continue in office up to six months without being a Member of either House, YSV had said that “there is no need for me to continue to be a Minister when I face an election.”

The Kadapa leader had recently invited the wrath of the opposition for attacking Telugu Desam Party MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar in the House on Monday after being infuriated by the Member’s placard on which the caption `YSR’s Gang of Robbers’ was written. Later he had expressed regrets for the incident and had apologized to the House.
