The DCP also stated that the damage to the statues was pre-planned and the police have clear cut evidence.

Dr Sabharwal pointed out that the attack on the statues was premeditated and the activists had made their way to the Tank Bund carrying hammers, blades and ropes to pull down the statues.

He said the police are making efforts to trace the guilty by collection video footage from private channels. Stringent action would be initiated against the guilty, the DCP warned.

As many as 13 of the 33 statues belonging to eminent personalities whose contribution to Telugu culture is universally accepted were pulled down while four other statues were damaged by the pro-Telangana activists during the Million March on Thursday.
