TRS drops people’s court move as MLA backtracks

Hyderabad, Sept 18 :

Probably for the first time, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and member of Parliament (MP) from Mahboobnagar Lok Sabha constituency, Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Friday nipped in the bud the dissident activity in the party.

The party legislator from Mancherial segment, Mr Arvind Reddy, on Friday backtracked on his outbursts that he made on Thursday against the party leadership. Following this, the TRS leaders have withdrawn the proposal of holding Saturday’s people’s court at Mancherial.

On Thursday, the MLA said that the TRS chief, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, is not a suitable leader to head an organization that is waging a movement for separate Telangana.

He even said that Mr Eetela Rajender, the TRS Legislative Party leader is not fit for the post and that Mr Harish Rao, the nephew of the TRS president, be appointed in his place.Sharply reacting to his remarks, the TRS leadership, particularly Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, dared the legislator  to attend a public court where he (the MLA) can air his views on any matter and can even prove whether Mr Rao is capable of leading the separate Telangana movement. The TRS president offered himself to attend the people’s court at Mancherial itself, the headquarters town of the legislator’s Assembly segment.

Surprisingly, on Friday morning the MLA called Mr Rao over phone and is stated to have apologized for his ‘unwarranted’ outbursts.  He reportedly explained to the TRS chief that he never passed any comments on the party leadership but only wanted the TRS to change its strategy to take the movement further to realize the dream of separate Telangana. After his explanation, the TRS leadership has dropped the people’s court proposal.

However, political circles here feel that the TRS president has finally asserted himself in the party and this after a long gap, he could prevent the dissident activity from taking further roots.
