Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday hailed the Racha Banda programme and pledged that he and his party would extend his full cooperation to the government so that it is carried out smoothly. Mr Chiranjeevi was speaking to media persons at the Tirupati International Airport where he arrived to participate in the Racha Banda in his constituency.

Referring to the call given by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and a section of Congress leaders to boycott the `Racha Banda’, Mr Chiranjeevi criticized the move by saying that such programmes were designed to benefit lakhs of people.

He said that, “It is not good for parties and leaders to boycott the programme as it would bring the benefits of government schemes to lakhs of people at their doorsteps.” Mr Chiranjeevi added that the Racha Banda would address long standing problems and help in providing basic amenities to the people.

The PRP chief added that, “If the government does good works, the PRP would extend its cooperation and would also question the administration if it adopts anti-people policies.” The actor-turned-politician said that some leaders were unnecessarily politicizing the Racha Banda and creating hurdles in the way of the government implementing its welfare programme in the name of Telangana agitation. Mr Chiranjeevi also made it clear that his party would not join the government. However, it would extend outside support if the need arises, he asserted.
