Following the instructions issued by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday decided to appoint Welfare Programmes Monitoring Committees to look into implementation of Government schemes and proper utilization of funds sanctioned for the benefit of poor and downtrodden.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of a meeting convened to review sector-wise welfare and development schemes and programmes at district level in Gandhi Bhavan, PCC president D Srinivas said the meeting was aimed to discuss the government welfare schemes to reach the doorsteps of beneficiaries properly.

He said the presidents of District and City Congress Committees have been advised to form District/City-Level Committees to review the implementation of government schemes.

Mr Srinivas said Mandal and divisional level monitoring committees would be formed similar on the lines by January 25.

The first meeting of Monitoring Committees will be organized at APCC, district/city-level and Mandal/divisional level.

The decision on monitoring committees was taken by party president Sonia Gandhi at 83rd Indian National Congress Plenary held at New Delhi in last Dec 18-20.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, presidents of District Congress Committees, city in-charges and coordinators from across the state.
