Expressing serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of Telugu Desam President N Chandrababu Naidu, who is on fast since last Friday for the cause of farmers, representatives of various farmers’ associations on Monday appealed to Governor ESL Narasimhan to intervene and advise the state government to announce revised relief package for farmers.

Submitting a memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Telugu Rythu general secretary Nallamalla Venkateshwara Rao urged Narasimhan to direct the state government to enhance the input subsidy amount and arrange for procurement of all agricultural produce, ensuring Minimum Support Price.

The farmers’ leaders accused the government of remaining adamant and refusing to concede to their just demands, particularly when they were in a crisis situation. The ‘miserly’ attitude of the government towards farmers’ issues has caused great distress among farmers and 55 farmers committed suicides during the last four days alone, they pointed out.

The delegation pleaded with the Governor to intervene and direct the State government to initiate measures to solve the unprecedented crisis.

The delegation comprised of AP Rythu Sangham president V Subba Rao and general secretary K Ramakrishna, Kisan Sangh State convenor P Anji Reddy, Rythu Samakhya convenor Y Nagendranath, BKM national executive member Dr G Sowri and Koulu Rythu Sangam state president U Narayana Rao.
