Pro-T activists observe Black Day across Telangana

Pro-Telangana activists opposed Formation Day celebrations by hosting black flags at the district Government offices on Monday.

In Karimnagar district, the situation turned tense when Pro-Telangana activists tried to enter the parade ground where State Formation Day celebrations were in process. The police stepped in and foiled the attempt by taking the protestors in custody.

The police also arrested Korutla Member of Legislative Assembly Kalvakuntla Vidya Sagar Rao when he tried to stage a dharna in front of the Metpally Mandal Revenue Office.

Two Pro-Telangana activists climbed on mobile phone towers, to register their protest against the celebrations. The two demanded that people of Telangana region boycott the celebrations. They were arrested after being coerced to climb down the tower.

In Mahabubnagar, TRS party activists were taken into police custody when they stopped the convoy of Civil Supplies Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, while he was going to participate in the Formation Day celebrations.

In Medak, Information and Public Relations Minister Geetha Reddy took part in the Formation Day celebrations amidst a ring of police men. The TRS activists who tried to disrupt the official function were arrested.

The activists later burnt Ms Geetha Reddy’s effigy Siddipet to mark their protest.

In Nizamabad, pro-Telangana activists released black balloons in the air while Minister Sudharshan was participating in the celebrations.

In Warangal, pro-Telangana activists staged protests against the Government for celebrating State formation day throughout the district. They were also taken into custody.

In Nalgonda district, Pro-Telangana activists tried to disrupt the State Formation day celebrations but policemen foiled their attempts by arresting a few of them.

In Khammam district too, police took those pro-Telangana activists who tried to interrupt the celebrations by arresting them.

Even in Adilabad and Ranga Reddy districts, Pro-Telangana activists observed ‘Betrayal Day’ by hosting black flags. They were later taken into custody by policemen

The pro-Telangana activists entered into heated arguments with police. They claimed that they were being arrested despite staging dharnas peacefully. They also warned the police of serious consequences.
