The DRC met on Saturday with the District Incharge Minister, Mr Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, to review the progress of various welfare programmes taken up in the district and also measures to be initiated to check migration of labour, besides other issues. During the course of the meeting, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislators from the district wanted to know the measures taken by the State Government to bring down the prices of essential commodities.

This has kicked up trouble and Mr Revanth Reddy, TDP MLA, picked up an argument with the Minister, Mrs D K Aruna. Pointing a finger at former minister and senior TDP leader, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, the District Incharge Minister, Mr Venkta Reddy remarked that “the people of Mahboobnagar district are ashamed of you as you stooped to the level of selling rice that was supplied through Public Distribution System during the TDP regime.”

Then follewed the trading of charges between the Ministers and the TDP legislators. Later, enraged at the developments, Mr Komatireddy Venkat Reddy termed the TDP MLAs as only paper tigers.

This caused deep trouble and the TDP MLAs demanded that Mr Venkat Reddy tender an unconditional apology for calling them as paper tigers. They even raised slogans against the Minister. The meeting, however, finally ended without taking up the agenda.
