Congress Leaders from Telangana left for Karimnagar to participate in the Martyr’s meet after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his Birth Anniversary and then the Telangana Martyrs at Gun Park opposite the state Assembly on Saturday.
MP G Vivek, Ponnam Prabhakar, DK Aruna apart from Telangana leaders, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs, termed the 'Congress Action Committee for Telangana', will reach Karimnagar where they will hold the Martyrs' Meet at Ashoka Hall to disburse financial help to the families of those who lost their lives for the cause of Telangana.
“The Congress Action Committee for Telangana (CACT) has the blessings of the Pradesh Congress Committee,” Mr Vivek said.
The CACT will distribute Rs one lakh to the families of around 60 persons who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana.
According to sources, the CACT leaders made several halts on the way to Karimnagar where they met the people and elicited opinion from them.
Earlier, Mr Vivek said that the Martyrs meet and the following ex-gratia to the families of Telangana Martyrs would revive and strengthen the Congress position in the Telangana region.
