Is Tollywood missing Shankar like Director?

It is a matter of fact that, Tollywood has many talented directors like SS Rajamouli, VV Vinayak, Puri Jagannath etc but it is also a fact that, we obviously miss the spark what a Kollywood director like Shankar possess. A clear debate of this subject may not be fruitful at this point of time but the way Shankar owns a subject with social message which is universally accepted is making his movies sure shot winners at BO.

There is also a clear answer for the question of missing Shankar in Tollywood. We have already seen something more than Shankar in the name of K. Vishwanath, a decade ago and the social issues touched by Kalatapaswi with very small budgets of those times is more than an achievement for us. These days with advancement of technology and increase in budgets, directors like Shankar are coming out with their grandeur making the message cleverly mixed up with commercial elements.

After the era of K. Vishwanath and T. Krishna like people, Tollywood is missing those exceptional movies where the hearts of audience are won directly. Inspite we have men like Rajamouli and Vinayak already acquiring the peak of commerciality. Yet, there is a space for these directors to incorporate those special elements which can increase the span of Telugu cinema. Even Producers should also converge with the new ideas of story writers and directors because change and innovativeness is what drives us forward.   

Let us hope that, our top directors grow something above Shankar’s image with their next movies. Being a genuine lover of Tollywood, this isn’t a big ask. What say folks…?
