Four Telangana MPs on Friday met Cabinet Sub-Committee on Advocates Chairman J Geetha Reddy at the Secretariat to apprise her of the situation before her scheduled meeting with protesting lawyers.

The lawyers have been invited by the state government for dialogue in a bid to solve the stalemate on 42 percent quota in Judiciary recruitments for Telanganaites on Friday evening.

After holding discussions with the Minister for two-and-half-hours, MPs G Vivek and Madhu Yaskhi told media persons at the Secretariat that the Minister heard their views patiently and assured to take favorable decision after her discussions with the lawyers.

They said the Minister feigned ignorance over the release of statistics by Minister for Technical Education and Law Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao substantiating that no injustice has been done to Telanganites in the recruitments.

MP Yaskhi said that the figures were wrong and had no basis. He said that great injustice has been done to Telanganaites in the recruitments.

Mr Yaskhi added that the Constitution has unambiguously stated that bias should not be shown to candidates from one zone.

The MPs appealed to the Minister to implement 42 per cent quota for Telangana lawyers in Judiciary recruitments. The MPs urged the Minister to do justice for all regions in recruitment of posts.

The MPs also revealed that they were on their way to meet the striking lawyers who were shifted to Gandhi Hospital by the police on Thursday.
