The Minister for Information and Public Relations, Dr J. Geeta Reddy, has assured a delegation of Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) that she would resolve the issues of journalists and accommodate the APWJF members and representatives of electronic media, women and Urdu journalists in the Governing Council of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh.
The Minister has instructed the Commissioner of Information and Public Relations to submit a detailed report on the issues of the journalists to resolve them immediately.
The APWJF delegation submitted a representation to the Minister and explained to her about the functioning of the Press Academy and registered its protest against issue of G.O. No 466 on the nomination of members to the Governing Council of Press Academy.
The Federation also objected to the nomination of K. Amarnath, who took Rs 85,000 as advance from the Academy for the project work and did not care to account to the Academy since 2008 even as the Academy sent several reminders.
The APWJF demanded that the government revoke G.O. No. 466 and issue a fresh order in its place by amending the constitution of the Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh and provide representation to the APWJF in the Governing Council of Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh immediately.
