Sky is indeed the limit for Jathi Ratnalu that is breaking newer records by the day across international and domestic territories. It clearly shows the audience’s desperation to hit theatres and the evergreen love for the comedy genre. The film released in a lesser number of theatres than Sreekaram but ended up giving a shock to Sharwanand.

Sreekaram isn’t a bad film at all, but such is the craze for Jaathi Ratnalu that anything coming in its way is bound to crash. Gaali Sampath couldn’t benefit much out of the festive release timing either despite the positive reviews for Rajendra Prasad’s performance. Over the four days now, Jathi Ratnalu has earned close to a share of Rs 19 crore, which is even more than the Rajjkumar Rao, Jahnvi Kapoor Hindi film, Roohi.

Roohi, a horror-comedy on the lines of Stree, despite a wide release, has only managed to collect only Rs 12.5 crore over the weekend. This film is the first major Hindi release this year and it hasn’t given many encouraging signs for the industry. With the fear of the second wave of the pandemic looming in the country, it remains to be seen if Hindi cinema will return to normalcy soon. It’s the only industry that’s continuing to prefer OTT releases over theatrical revenue.
