Samantha’s Big Foray

Sexy siren Samantha Akkineni is on a roll. Whether it’s her film projects or successful talk show Sam Jam on OTT platform AHA or web series The Family Man 2, she has unleashed her potential in all the mediums.

The Majili actress is a name to reckon with in the South. Though she is a well-known face among Hindi audience too, she hasn’t got her major break until now from Bollywood. But now Sam has bagged her first big project – a pan-Indian. Samantha will be seen in and as Shakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar. Sam sidelined other heroines to grab the offer.

The makers have unveiled the motion poster to announce the female lead. Based on mythological folklore, it charts the take of Shakuntala and Dushyanth’s affair, marriage and reunion. The film is produced by Gunasekhar’s wife Neelima Guna.

Gunasekhar’s last film was Rudhramadevi. Starring Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun and others it bombed at the box-office. Now after a gap of five years, he is coming back with Shakuntalam.
